X-Men: First Class is an American feature film of the superhero fantasy and action genres. It is the fifth film in the X-Men film franchise. It is the second installment in the relaunch series, but also ties in with the original trilogy. The film is set several decades before X-Men and is followed by X-Men: Days of Future Past. The movie was directed by Matthew Vaughn and was written by Ashley Miller, Zack Stentz, Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn, as based on a story by Sheldon Turner and Bryan Singer. The film was produced by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation and Marvel Entertainment and released theatrically in the United Sates on June 3rd, 2011.
