Vacation, fully known as National Lampoon's Vacation, is an American feature film of the comedy genre. It was directed by Harold Ramis with a script written by John Hughes based off his short story, "Vacation '58". The movie was produced by Warner Bros. and released theatrically in the United States on July 29th, 1983. It is the first in a series that includes three sequels as well as two spin-off films. The next installment in the series is 1985's European Vacation. National Lampoon's Vacation stars Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold, Beverly D'Angelo as his wife Ellen Griswold and Anthony Michael Hall and Dana Barron as their children, Rusty and Audrey Griswold. Other stars in the film include Imogene Coca as Aunt Edna and Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddie.
