Played by actor Chris Hemsworth, Thor first appeared in his own self-titled movie, Thor, in 2011. Actor Dakota Goyo played a young Thor in flashback scenes in this film. Hemsworth reprised the role of Thor Odinson for the 2012 summer blockbuster The Avengers. He appeared next in his own solo film sequel, Thor: The Dark World in 2012, and then circled back to the Avengers franchise in 2015 with Avengers: Age of Ultron. Thor is presented as both a warrior and a superhero who finds value in the citizens of the Earth realm, and elects himself their sworn protector.
