- Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a canonical sequel to 2002's Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and is the only official film in the series to be completely computer generated.
- Star Wars: The Clone Wars premiered on August 10th, 2008 at the Grauman's Egyptian Theatre, while screening in wide-release on August 14th, 2008 across Australia, and August 15th in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
- First appearance of Ahsoka Tano, who becomes a recurring character in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated television series broadcast on Cartoon Network. The character was also a recurring character in the series Star Wars: Rebels, in which she fought her former master, Anakin Skywalker, who was now Darth Vader. The character quickly became a favourite with Star Wars fans.
- Original film cast members Anthony Daniels, Christopher Lee and Samuel L. Jackson all reprise their respective roles, albeit in voice form only, as C-3PO, Count Dooku and Mace Windu, respectively.
