The Sawyer family are a fictional family of psychotic cannibal serial killers and the primary antagonists featured in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film franchise. They are depicted as maniacal, depraved and completely unrepentent sociopaths, who believe only in the preservation of their own lifestyle. The family was first introduced in the original 1974 independent horror classic, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and appeared again in the 1986 black comedy sequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. As the films progressed beyond this point, the Sawyer family has expanded and was also partially re-imagined.
