Overview[]
Rick Blaine is an American expatriate who operates a café out of the city of Casablanca in Morocco at the height of World War II. He is the former lover of Ilsa Lund, whom Rick had a whirlwind romance with in Paris some time earlier. Ilsa spontaneously comes back into Rick's life but now needs his help with smuggling her current paramour Victor Laszlo out of the country. Rick struggles with his re-emerging feelings for Ilsa while also balancing his dangerous affairs at the café, which also operates as a stop-gap for people fleeing the country.
