A radio personality is someone who works in broadcast journalism and lends their vocal talents to radio. This may be someone who works as a DJ for a radio station, or may host or co-host their own talk show. Beginning as early as the 1990s, radio DJs began to push the envelope in terms of taste and acceptable behavior, thus earning themselves the neologism, "shock jock". One of the most recognized radio personalities in American broadcasting is Howard Stern. The 1997, Private Parts offered a biographical look into the history of this infamous and controversial DJ.
A fictional radio personality was a man named Harlan Griffith, who hosted his own pirate radio station, KFRD, out of Prosperity, Arizona. Griffith used the station to propograte his own radical conspiracy theories concerning alien abductions and government cover-ups.
Another radio personality of note was a woman named Erica Bain. Although she may have been a soft-spoken and compassionate talk show host, most of her listeners were unaware that she was also a vigilante, patrolling the streets of New York City, seeking to avenge the death of her fiancé.
