The Purge is an American feature film of the psycho-thriller genre. It is the first installment in a series that has yielded at least three sequels. The movie was written and directed by James DeMonaco. It was produced by Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes and released through Universal Pictures. It premiered theatrically in the United States on June 7th, 2013.
