Pretty Woman is an American feature film of the romantic comedy genre. It was directed by Garry Marshall with a screenplay written by J.F. Lawton. It was produced by Silver Screen Partners, IV and presented by Touchstone Pictures. Distributed through Buena Vista Pictures, Pretty Woman premiered in the United States on March 23rd, 1990. The film stars Richard Gere in the male lead as Edward Lewis with Julia Roberts playing the female lead, Vivian Ward. The movie became a box-office smash, and catapulted up-and-coming rising star Julia Roberts into super-stardom. The film is largely regarded as being one of the most popular and well received romance films of its time.
