Owen's Bar is a fictional drinking establishment related to the collected works of Stephen King. It appeared in the 1985 film Silver Bullet, which was based on the 1983 novella Cycle of the Werewolf.
History[]
Owen's Bar was a drinking establishment located in Tarker's Mill, Maine. It was owned by Owen Knopfler and catered to most of the town's male residents. Regular patrons at the bar included Andy Fairton and Pete Maxwell. Owen Knopfler tended bar himself, and knew that the place could get rowdy at times. To that end, he carried a baseball bat behind the bar that had the words "The Peace Maker" etched into the side of it.
One night, after a series of murders, customer Andy Fairton made a spectacle of decrying the failure of Sheriff Joe Haller to catch the killer. Pete Maxwell rose to defend Haller and the two nearly came to blows.
A distraught man named Herb Kincaid walked into the bar, inquiring if anyone had seen his missing son, Brady. Brady had been murdered by a werewolf who was in fact the town's preacher, Reverend Lester Lowe.
After Brady's funeral, the patrons at Owen's bar, including Owen himself, decided to form a search party to find the killer. They ventured off into a fog-enshrouded bank where they did in fact find the killer - to their eternal regret, as the werewolf slaughtered each of them. The monster beat Owen Knopfler to death with this own baseball bat.
