Description & History[]

Oto Island is a small island located somewhere off the coast of Japan. It is primarily a fishing hamlet, populated by numerous families. Isolated from mainstream society, some of the older villagers still cling to ancient superstitions. One such elder, spoke of a time when the world was threatened by a legendary creature called Gojira. Whenever Gojira made its presence known, the supply of fish in the surrounding areas would be depleted. To assuage the great monster's appetite, the islanders would sacrifice a human female to him in the hopes of avoiding his wrath.

In 1954, Gojira was responsible for the destruction of several shipping vessels in the area. There were few survivors, but those who did survive were brought to Oto Island. In the wake of these attacks, members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force set up a hospice on the island.
