Biography[]
Mickey Torelli worked as a crane operator on the wharfs in California. A drunk by nature, he decided to spruce up the flavor of his coffee with a couple of shots of alcohol while operating a crane. He was lifting a heavy wooden crate from a ship onto the dock when he knocked his cup over, causing it to spill all over the controls. Reacting to the sudden sparks, Mickey accidentally disengaged the hooks and the crate plummeted, killing a man named Ed Finney. Mickey had no way of knowing that inside the crate rested a statue of the Zoroastrian deity Ahura Mazda, in which resided the Stone of the Secret Fire, which was the containment vessel for an evil Djinn.
Following a string of horrific events wrought by the Djinn, a woman named Alexandra Amberson made her third and final wish to the demon, wishing that Mickey had not been drinking on the day that the statue of Ahura Mazda was delivered. Obligated to comply, the Djinn peeled back time and altered history. Since Torelli was not drunk on the day of the delivery, the crate was never smashed and the Djinn was never set free.
