Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a 1956 science fiction film directed by Don Siegel. It is based on the 1954 serial The Body Snatchers by Jack Finney which was originally published in Colliers Magazine. The film was remade in 1978 as Invasion of the Body Snatchers by Philip Kaufman and and again in 2007 under the simplified title Invasion. All variations of the story involve microscopic alien life forms that come to Earth and supplant human beings with perfect alien/human hybrid duplicates grown from plant-like pods (in Invasion however, the alien seeds are actually a viral contagion).
