Insidious: Chapter 2 is an American feature film of the horror genre, with an emphasis on demonic possession. It is a sequel to the 2010 horror movie Insidious, and is the first sequel in the franchise. It was directed by James Wan with a script written by Leigh Whannell based upon a story treatment by Whannell and Wan. The film was produced by Blumhouse Productions in association with Stage 6 Films and presented by FilmDistrict and Entertainment One. It premiered theatrically in the United States on September 13th, 2013. The sequel expands upon unresolved plot points from the first film, but also shines more light on the back-story of certain characters including Josh Lambert and Elise Rainier.
