Homophobia is not an actual phobia as much as it is an expression of prejudice against the lifestyles, behavior, personality and practices of those who engage in a homosexual lifestyle. The motivations behind maintaining a homophobic stance may vary. Some people dislike homosexual lifestyles based upon their religious beliefs. Others may find such behavior a challenge to their masculinity or femininity. Others just find it plain old "icky", and let's face it... nobody likes anything that is different. Expressing homophobic behavior may vary as well, with something as benign as making an off-color joke at someone's expense, to the severe, which may even include acts of violence against homosexuals.
In film[]
- Freddy vs. Jason: Kia Waterson called Freddy Krueger a "f-----" to keep his attention focused on her. Not many people get to say this to Freddy and live to tell about it. Oh wait. She didn't.
- Halloween (2007): The character of Ronnie White expressed several vulgar homophobic remarks with regards to his girlfriend's son, Michael Myers. After hearing that Michael (a child) had been mutilating animals, Ronnie told him that was "some f-----y-ass shit", and that he might just cut his dick and balls off and change his name to Michelle. Don't worry... Ronnie got what was coming to him.
- Trading Places: Billy Ray Valentine says "Then these dudes are a couple of f-----s then, huh?".
