
Hitchcock is an American biographical film about the life of noted film director Alfred Hitchcock. Specifically, it details the events of his life leading up to and including the production of his most famous film, Psycho. The film was directed by Sacha Gervasi with a screenplay written by John J. McLaughlin. It is based on a book by author Stephen Rebello. The movie was produced by Fox Searchlight Pictures and released theatrically in the United States on December 14th, 2012. The film stars Anthony Hopkins as director Alfred Hitchcock with Helen Mirren as his wife, Alma Reville. Scarlett Johansson plays Janet Leigh with Danny Huston as Whitfield Cook, Toni Collette as Peggy Robertson, Michael Wincott as Ed Gein, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles and James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins. Other notable cast members include Kurtwood Smith as Geoffrey Shurlock, and Ralph Macchio as Joseph Stefano.
