The Gideon Meatpacking Plant is a fictional location featured in the Saw film series by Twisted Pictures. It first appeared in the 2006 feature film Saw III. It also appeared in several sequels in the franchise, including flashback scenes and archival footage.
Description[]
The Gideon Meatpacking Plant was designed and co-founded by civil engineer John Kramer as part of his urban renewal project. It was named Gideon, which was the name intended for John Kramer's son, however, his wife Jill Tuck had a miscarriage due to the actions of a junkie named Cecil Adams. For reasons that remain unclear, the Gideon Meatpacking Plant was shut down around the time that Kramer had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer.
The loss of his child, his growing cancer, and a vicious automobile accident placed John on a macabre course in his life. He became a serial kidnapper whom the press nicknamed Jigsaw, and would place his victims into various torture traps, with instructions on how they could extricate themselves - should they be willing to make harrowing, and often debilitating sacrifices. The Gideon Meatpacking Plant became one of his hideouts, which he shared with his accomplices, Amanda Young, Mark Hoffman, and Art Blank.
The Federal authorities were unable to locate Jigsaw's lair until shortly after his death at the hands of test subject Jeff Denlon.

- ↑ The setting for the series is left deliberately ambiguous, but a scene in Saw V shows a character typing out Agent Strahm's phone number, which has a 212 area code. This is the area code for Manhattan. However, another scene shows a New Jersey license plate on Strahm's car, so the actual location of the series remains inconclusive.
- ↑ Corbett Denlon is the only kidnap victim of Jigsaw who survives the duration of her parents' trials.
