Gerry Ober is a fictional retail clerk and a minor character featured in the 2003 Grindhouse horror film House of 1000 Corpses. He was played by actor Joe Dobbs, III.
Gerry Ober was a man in his mid to late twenties and lived in the town of Ruggsville, Texas in the late 1970s. He worked as a clerk Red Hot Pussy Liquors. He wore a name tag that read "G. Ober", but his manager inserted an additional letter O, making it appear as if it reads "Goober".
On October 30th 1977, Rufus Firefly, Jr. and Baby Firefly came into the liquor store. Baby pointed out Gerry's name tag and he explained the prank, which prompted her to continuously call him Goober. They purchased $185 dollars worth of beer and spirits that night.
