Ganimes, sometimes shortened to just Ganime, is a fictional daikaiju, or "giant monster", featured in Japanese films of the Shōwa period. Animated by veteran tokusatsu performer Haruo Nakajima, he appeared in the 1970 science fiction film, Yog, Monster from Space.
Ganimes is a giant water elemental who takes the form of a lobster. He was mutated to a height of twenty-five meters by thirty meters by the space amoeba known as Yog. There were two such creatures known to inhabit the Western Pacific Ocean during the early 1970s. The first Ganimes staged an attack on Sergio Island, but was destroyed by explosives. Yog mutated a second giant lobster and resumed the attack, where it was now partnered with a mutated rock turtle named Kamoebas. This Ganimes died inside of an active volcano.
