Fred Claus is an American comedy film of the holiday subgenre. It was directed by David Dobkin with a script written by Dan Fogelman and Jessie Nelson. It was produced by Silver Pictures and Warner Bros. and premiered in the United States on November 9th, 2007. The film stars Vince Vaughn as the titular Frederick Claus, who is the older brother of Nick Claus, played by Paul Giamatti, who is this generation's version of Santa Claus. Trouble is abrewing up at the North Pole as a staunch efficiency expert played by Kevin Spacey named Clyde Northcut is threatening to shut down Santa's workshop. When Nick proves incapable of getting the job done, it is up his cynical and embittered brother Fred to take on the mantle of Santa Claus.
