Forrest Gump is an American feature film of the drama genre. It is based on a novel written by author Winston Groom. The movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis with a screenplay written by Eric Roth. It was produced by Paramount Pictures and released theatrically in the United States on July 6th, 1994. The film stars Tom Hanks as the titular hero character, Forrest Gump, with an ensemble supporting cast which includes Sally Field as his mother, Robin Wright as his on-again/off-again girlfriend, Jenny Curran, and Gary Sinise as Lieutenant Dan Taylor.
