The Fog is a 1980 supernatural horror film directed by John Carpenter. Written by Carpenter and Halloween collaborator Debra Hill, it was released theatrically in the United States on February 8th, 1980. A remake of the film was released in 2005 directed by Rupert Wainwright. The plot of the film revolves around the Pacific fishing hamlet of Antonio Bay, which is plagued by a series of strange inexplicable phenomena that haunts the town's elders on the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Antonio Bay.

- This movie reunites several cast members from John Carpenter's seminal classic Halloween including Jamie Lee Curtis, Nancy Kyes, Charles Cyphers and Ty Mitchell.
- George Flower's character, Tommy Wallace, is named after Tommy Lee Wallace, who plays the role of one of the ghosts in this film. Tommy Lee Wallace will later go on to direct the 1982 film Halloween III: Season of the Witch.
- The character of Nick Castle is named for actor Nick Castle who played the antagonist in two of John Carpenter's previous films. He played the alien in Dark Star and he played Michael Myers in Halloween.
