Exploding heads are fun. There are a wide variety of methods and tools that may be implemented in order to cause someone's head to explode. In some cases, one need only exert the power of their mind to turn someone's cranium into a gooey mess. Such was the case in the 1981 David Cronenberg film Scanners in which a powerful psionic named Darryl Revok used his powers to cause a newscasters brain to explode.
In the 2002 film Blade II, vampire hunter Eric Brooks, aka, Blade armed himself with an arsenal of weaponry that utilized ultraviolet radiation ammunition. On the surface, this may not seem overly impressive, but against a vampire - the results are always fatal. Blade and his temporary vampire hit squad, the Blood Pack, used these weapons to cause the heads of their enemies (as well as the rest of their bodies), the Reapers to explode on contact.
In the 2009 film Laid to Rest, the mysterious killer known as ChromeSkull used an extremely creative means to cause someone's head to explode. He sprayed tire sealant into the ear of a man named Steven, which ultimately resulted in his head inflating and exploding.
Exploding heads was the method of death du jour in the 2016 thriller The Belko Experiment. The poor delusional office workers of Belko Industries agreed to have tracking devices implanted inside their skulls as a condition of employment. They eventually discovered that these were in fact explosive devices, that a mysterious organization activated at random intervals as part of some human social experiment.
