Erik Lensherr is one of the original members of the mutant superhero team known as the X-Men, but would later leave to create the Brotherhood of Mutants. He is able to manipulate metal objects, which enables him to weaponise anything with even the minutest traces of metal. He is portrayed by Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender, with Michael playing the younger version. Brett Morris and Bill Milner have also played young versions of the character.

- The character seems to have somewhat of an odd relationship with Mystique and also with Charles Xavier.
- Magneto was created by David Hayter as based on the comic book character created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The version of Magneto as portrayed by Michael Fassbender was created by Simon Kinberg.
