Biography[]
E.W. Hoffman was a psychiatrist and the administrator of the Ridgemont Federal Sanitarium in Warren County, Illinois. He was active primarily during the mid 1980s. In 1988, Hoffman approved a transfer for comatose mental patient Michael Myers. Smith's Grove Sanitarium attendants J. Black and L. Evans arrived to take Myers away. Hoffman knew all too well about Michael's murderous history and openly displayed his contempt for the man, citing that he hoped Myers would never awaken.
The following day, Michael's normal psychiatrist, Doctor Sam Loomis arrived and stormed into Hoffman's office, asking him why he wasn't notified about Myers being transferred. Hoffman explained to Loomis that Myers was a federal patient and prisoner and thus was subject to federal law. Loomis told him that Myers was more then evil. He also told him that Myers caused a lot of pain to people ten years earlier when he went on a killing spree in Haddonfield. Hoffman told Loomis that he was the one that needed mental help and then received a telephone call about Michael Myers and an accident that involved him.
Hoffman and Loomis drove out to Mill Creek where Ambulance 534, which had been transporting Michael, was found overturned off the highway. Bodies were burned beyond recognition. Hoffman believed that everyone had died in the crash, including Michael Myers, but Loomis knew better. [1]
