Cows are big dumb four-legged mammals that go "moo". They are members of the bovine family and are ideal for yielding meat products in the form of beef and veal and dairy products in the form of milk. Male cows are called bulls while female cows are called heifers. Their young are called calves. In Hindu culture, cows are considered sacred because they give milk and it is considered a sin to injure or kill one. Killing a cow in India will earn you a longer stretch in prison than killing a human.

Appearances[]

  • Frankenstein Conquers the World: Cows have occasionally become the unwitting target of a giant monster's appetite. In 1965, the ancient dinosaur creature Baragon began terrorizing settlements around Akita Prefecture in Japan whereupon it dined on a few dim-witted bovines.
  • Halloween II (2009): Coroners Alan Hooks and Gary Scott were driving an ambulance carrying the body of serial killer Michael Myers to Warren County. Hooks was paying too much attention to Gary's lewd jokes and failed to notice a cow crossing the road, which they then hit. The vehicle overturned and Hooks died on impact.
  • Phase IV: Sometimes the biggest threat to livestock comes in the smallest of packages. This was the case in 1974's Phase IV when a colony of cosmically enhanced ants ravaged livestock across the town of Paradise City, Arizona. Scientists Ernest D. Hubbs and James R. Lesko examined several cattle mutilations.
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The (1974): Cows play a minor role in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre film series. The Sawyer family owned a slaughter house in Muerto County, Texas in the first film. A group of youths drove by a pasture with some cows in it. They picked up a hitchhiker who described in great detail the process that his family used to slaughter cows at the slaughter house.
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The (2003): Cows only made a minor appearance in this film. Kemper throws a pinata filled with marijuana into a cow pasture, earning the attention of a nearby animal. That cow was trippin' balls for days.
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning: This film has probably one of the most memorable cow moments in the entire horror genre. A group of youths are driving down a highway trying in vain to evade a troupe of harassing bikers. The driver of the jeep, Eric, smashes into a cow turning it into a bloody mess.
