Chewie - Friday the 13th

Chewie is the nickname attributed to a fictional murder victim and a supporting character in the Friday the 13th film series. Played by actor Aaron Yoo, he appeared in the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th.

Chewie was a young man who accompanied seven of his friends to a lake house owned by the parents of Trent Sutton. Chewie was close friends with a young man named Lawrence and the two spent the bulk of the weekend drinking beer and smoking marijuana. While heavily inebriated, Chewie expressed in interest in a woman named Bree. Bree convinced Chewie to try a flaming shot. When the glass burned his lip, he fell backwards, breaking one of Trent's chairs. Promising to fix it, Chewie went out to the work shed to get some tools. Jason Voorhees appeared and stabbed Chewie through the neck with a screwdriver. He then suspended his remains upside down from the rafters where they were later discovered by Lawrence.

Notes

  • Chewie is the eighth victim of Jason Voorhees in the film. He dies after Chelsea and before Lawrence.
  • Chewie is a character unique to the remake film and does not have a counterpart in the original Friday the 13th.
  • While this may be the first classic slasher remake that Aaron Yoo may have been involved with, it is not his last. Yoo makes a brief uncredited appearance in the 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, where he played Marcus Yeon - one of several youths murdered by dream demon Freddy Krueger. As such, Aaron Yoo has the distinction of playing characters killed by both Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees.
  • Chewie expressed the notion that in his next life, he would want to come back as one of the ass buttons on Bree's jean shorts. Since the character died shortly thereafter, it is unknown whether or not his spirit was in fact reincarnated as one of Bree's ass-buttons.
