Beverly Hills Cop is an American feature film of the comedy and action genres. It was directed by Martin Brest and written by Daniel Petrie, Jr. and Danilo Bach. It was produced by Paramount Pictures and premiered in the United States on December 5th, 1984. The film stars Eddie Murphy in the role of Detroit police detective Axel Foley. To solve the murder of his partner and childhood friend, Foley takes some "vacation" time to Beverly Hills to work on the case. He teams up with two uptight and by-the-book L.A. detectives named Taggart and Rosewood, played respectively by John Ashton and Judge Reinhold.
