A barista (pronounced bah-ree-stah) is a person who is trained to prepare and serve coffee. The term doesn't really apply to common food servers, but is used mostly when referring to individuals who work in coffee houses.
In the 2008 comedy Zack and Miri Make a Porno, the characters of Zack Brown and Delaney were disgruntled baristas at a coffee shop in a strip mall in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. In the 2009 remake of Halloween II, the characters of Mya Rockwell, Harley David and Laurie Strode worked as baristas at a trendy vintage record shop/coffee house called Uncle Meat's Java Hole.
