Appletree Road is a fictional location featured in the Insidious film series. It appeared in the 2018 feature film Insidious: The Last Key, which is the fourth and final installment in the series.
Description[]
Appletree Road is a winding dirt road located in the town of Five Keys, New Mexico. The Dewbend State Penitentiary is located adjacent to Appletree Road. Behind the prison, the Rainier residence is located at 414 Appletree Road. In 2010, Elise Rainier, Steven "Specs" Fisher, and Tucker Croft drove down Appletree Road in a large black van that cost Tucker $700.00. They arrived at the old Rainier house at the behest of a man named Ted Garza.

- Dewbend State Penitentiary was a state prison located in Five Keys, New Mexico. During the 1950s, New Mexico still had the Death Penalty, which was later abolished in 2009. In 1953, Wayne Fisher was executed by electric chair for murdering a woman with a hammer. His last meal was a rib-eye steak. His last words were "Go to Hell". Gerald Rainier worked at Dewbend as a prison guard. Whenever the electric chair was put to use, the power in the surrounding neighborhood would flicker.

- The Rainier residence, later known as the Garza residence, was located at 414 Appletree Road in Five Keys, New Mexico. In 1953, the head of the household was Gerald Rainier, who worked as a prison guard at Dewbend State Penitentiary. He was married to Audrey Rainier, and had two children, Elise and Christian. Since she was a little girl, Elise had the ability to perceive and talk to ghosts. She claimed that there were numerous ghosts haunting their home, at least one of which, took on the visage of a small child. While Audrey was protective of Elise's gift, Gerald was fearful of it, and flew into a violent rage, whenever Elise had a "visitation". On the night that Wayne Fisher was executed, Elise saw a ghost child in her bedroom. Gerald reacted poorly to this, and beat Elise with a wooden cane and locked her in the basement. While trapped in the basement, Elise was briefly possessed by the KeyDemon, who used his demonic power to murder Audrey Ranier by hanging her with a power cable from the ceiling.
