The Alien Dead is an American independent low-budget horror film of the zombie apocalypse subgenre. It was written and directed by Fred Olen Ray and co-written by Martin Nicholas. The film was produced by Firdbird International Pictures and released in the United States on June 1st, 1980. Like most of Fred Olen Ray's movies, the film has earned a mild degree of cult status, but is often regarded as being little-more than a poor man's Night of the Living Dead.
