A Night at the Opera is an American musical comedy film featuring the Marx Brothers. It was directed by Sam Wood with a screenplay written by George S. Kaufman and Morrie Ryskind based on a story treatment developed by James Kevin McGuinness. It was produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and premiered on November 15th, 1935. The film stars Groucho Marx as Otis Driftwood - a business manager for two opera singers who, along with his friends Fiorello and Tomasso, conspire to humiliate their enemies, while simultaneously helping their clients achieve great success at the opera.
