Persian king and Djinn

A Persian king and a Djinn in 1127.

1127 (MCXXVII) was a common year of the Julian calendar. It is the twenty-seventh year of the 12th century. In horror fiction, the year 1127 is notable for its historic value as it relates to the supernatural demonic entities known as Djinn.

In the year 1127, a Persian king had command of a Djinn, who was obligated to grant him three wishes. The king's first wish is unknown, but with the second wish, the king desired to be shown great wonders. The Djinn obliged him by transforming his court into a chamber of horrors with people screaming in agony as their bodies contorted into a myriad of bizarre and repulsive forms. A wizard at the court fashioned a mystical red gemstone called the Stone of the Secret Fire. He begged the king to not make any further wishes, warning him that to do so would open the gateway allowing other Djinn free reign over the earth. As the Djinn tried to cajole horror-stricken king into making his third wish, the wizard trapped the Djinn inside the Stone of the Secret Fire. [1]
